Hello
I am a devoted daughter, a Registered Nurse, a transformative leader, and an advocate for prosperous living.
I have been involved in sustainable farming for the past 7 years, as it has become a popular trend in the agricultural industry. It all started when I began volunteering at a local sustainable farm in the suburbs of Illinois. Through consistent education and experience, my passion for a healthier lifestyle and a smaller global footprint has grown.
I am dedicated to uplifting communities and promoting a better understanding of sustainability. Farmers have embraced new techniques and methods to support ecosystems and preserve the environment, and I am proud to be a part of this movement. Sustainable farming is not just a job for me, it is my purpose and passion.
My Journey
My passion for healthy living started when I was young, Earth Day has always been a big deal for me, ever since I was a kid. I grew up learning about the importance of protecting our planet and living harmoniously with nature. It's been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.
My journey as a raw vegan (organic) chef has been gradual. It's been evolving with each seminar, festival, workshop, and all the amazing people I've met around the world. I've had my share of health challenges, but I've come out the other side, and now I feel it's my time to guide and share my wisdom to help others. Some folks are dealing with serious health issues and are looking to change their lives, hoping for some noticeable improvements. While I can't make any guarantees or medical claims, I can definitely say that nature has a way of winning. If you embrace a simple, natural way of eating, you'll start to see changes in your life.
Things to know about Farming
1. Crop rotation
Crop rotation is a practice of growing different crops on the same piece of land. This technique is used to improve soil fertility, prevent disease and pest infestations, and minimize soil erosion.
2. Soil conservation
Sustainable farmers use various methods to protect soil from erosion, such as contour farming, strip-cropping, cover crops, and no-till farming.
3. Natural fertilizers
Organic matter like animal manure, compost, and green manure is used as natural fertilizer. These fertilizers improve soil fertility, increase water retention, and promote healthy growth of crops.
4. Water conservation
Sustainable farming practices include water conservation methods, such as using drip irrigation, rainwater harvesting, and efficient irrigation systems.
5. Pest control
Pesticides are harmful to the environment and pose a risk to human health. Sustainable farmers, therefore, use natural pest control methods such as companion planting, crop rotation, predator introduction, and integrated pest management.
6. Agroforestry
Introducing trees and shrubs in farming helps to develop a balance in the ecosystem. Trees can be used to control soil erosion, increase soil fertility, and provide shelter for animals.
7. Wildlife conservation
Sustainable farmers respect and protect wildlife habitats and their natural resources. They support biodiversity by creating hedgerows, introducing lakes or ponds, and minimizing habitat destruction.
In conclusion, sustainable farming has developed new practices that benefit the agricultural system, the farmer and the environment. Adhering to such practices can guarantee long-term productivity and profitability for farmers while caring for our planet.
